“A wise and good man, in matters of food, should never seek to indulge his appetite; in lodging, he should not be too solicitous of comfort. He should be diligent in business and careful in speech.” Confucius remarked, “He should seek for the company of men of virtue and learning, in order to profit by their lessons and example. In this way he may become a man of real culture.” It is not poverty but passion that leads to immersion in learning and state affairs.

It's not easy to adhere to the principles of 'diligent work', 'cautious speech', 'modest learning' and 'rigorous self-correcting'. The eight-character motto - 'Innovating Medicines to Make the World Healthier' - inscribed in the plaque hanging in my office is not only my personal goal, but also the common ideal of all our people at NOVAKEN.

A noble purpose gives one eternal power. In charting the course of medicine R&D, our people have always stayed committed to the principle of seeking continuous improvements by cautiously criticizing every conclusion that has been made. As the time is dominated by never-satisfied craving for materialistic pleasure, our people are committed to modest learning, bold innovation, constant self-correction, and continued self-cultivation. We strive only for the goal of putting Chinese pharmaceutical preparations ahead in the international community.

I often caution myself against complacency. Having waged and won countless wars against foes over more than three decades, Yue Fei, one of China’s greatest generals and national heroes, still lamented, “Should youthful heads in vain turn grey, we would regret for aye.” NOVAKEN, having been founded for only over one decade, should guard against arrogance and impetuosity, undertake the responsibility of serving the country by industry, and work to make substantial contributions to the country and the people.

My sincerity to people keeps them from deceiving me, and my honesty in business brings success for everything.
